UAE e-invoicing: eight checks to run before you choose a provider
*Written in September 2026, before the 30 October deadline for large taxpayers to appoint an Accredited Service Provider. Check the current dates with the Ministry of Finance or the FTA.*
Before you choose an e-invoicing provider, run these eight checks on last quarter's invoices. They take an afternoon and tell you where the work really is.
1. **TRN coverage.** What share of your B2B customers have a validated TRN on file? Below 100% is a rejection queue waiting to happen. 2. **Line-level VAT.** Does every line carry its own VAT category, or is VAT applied to the total? 3. **Designated-zone and export customers.** Can you list them, and does the system apply their treatment on its own? 4. **Price source.** Is the invoice price the one agreed on the order, or today's price list? 5. **Re-keying.** How many field or phone orders get typed in twice? 6. **Credit notes.** Can every one be linked to its original invoice, with the reason recorded? 7. **Mandatory fields.** Will the system refuse to issue an invoice that is missing one, and say which? 8. **Provider independence.** If your ASP changes terms or fails, how much has to change to switch?
The provider will not fix any of the eight. Only your order-to-invoice process does.
