Jawda counts the patients you didn’t measure
If you run an outpatient rehab clinic in Abu Dhabi, this is the first quarter that counts.
Since Q4 2026, the Department of Health's Jawda indicators for outpatient rehabilitation are reported every quarter. There are twelve, REH001 to REH012. Ten ask whether patients got better on a named measure: pain, strength, balance, mobility, goals, speech and swallowing, dizziness, walking distance, gross motor function.
Every one is computed from the clinic's own record. A patient counts only with a baseline written before therapy, a reassessment on the same measure at a fixed point (day 42 for most), and a discharge assessment or a recorded reason to be left out.
## The rule that's easy to miss
A patient whose reassessment was not done stays in the denominator and counts as not improved.
So try the arithmetic once. 200 patients reach day 42. 80% are reassessed on time, and 85% of those improved. The clinic reports 68%, against a 70% target. The treatment worked for 85% of the patients it was measured on. The figure says 68%, because 40 people were never measured.
The fastest way to move a Jawda figure is rarely better treatment. It is making sure everyone who reached day 42 was measured on day 42, and that the score sits in a field someone can count, not in a sentence in a note.
We build software for clinics at Xamun, so this is a question we had to answer for ourselves. I wrote up what each indicator asks a clinic to record, and the five points we'd confirm with the Department before building a process around them: [Xamun Position Paper No. 10](https://www.xamun.ai/whitepaper-jawda-outpatient-rehab), free, no form.
Which part of the record is hardest to get right today: the baseline, the day-42 booking, or closing episodes when patients stop coming?

*Illustrative arithmetic. It's our reading of DOH's Outpatient Rehabilitation Jawda guidance (V1, May 2026), not the Department's. Check with the Department of Health, your quality lead or a regulatory adviser before relying on it for a submission.*
