Travel
The word brings so many emotions all together, from somewhere within a warm feeling emerges and before I know there is a smile on the face. May be some of the scientist already proved that travelling is a basic human need, that’s why the ancient men started walking out of Africa and spread all over the world.
The thirst of travel has been one of the biggest motivator that has driven some of the major decisions in life so far:
- Some of the fondest memories of my childhood are associated with the family travels
- The opportunity to travel was one of the factors when considering for civil engineering as compared to other disciplines where I thought you got to sit on a desk and work.
- The first job it took was to travel to Kathmandu for a very low paying job just after the severe flood and try to revive a super delayed project for the royal family over the terribly cold winter months.
- Decided to go for MBA as it is suppose to give you more freedom to choose what you want to work on and suppose to include lots of travel opportunities.
- One month before I got my degree at the B School, my thesis mentor offered to join his company doing feasibility and business plans for real estate projects all over Philippines, opportunity to travel and plan resorts etc. while getting paid to do it; hehehe… did not take me long to say yes, even though my other friends went for finding higher paying jobs in bigger named companies.
- Jumped into software business initially not because of travel, but grew to global markets starting very early in the life of the company because it gave opportunity to travel for business and see the world. Still enjoying the it more and more.
